Usually undertaken over a weekend for risk-mitigation purposes, the application servers and peripherals are physically relocated from one datacentre to the new one.

After a controlled handover, backup and shutdown, the equipment is securely packed and moved under escort to the new site.

Once there it is racked, tested and then handed back to the application teams for functional testing.

The whole weekend's activities is controlled through a Communications & Control Centre.
